In response to Roma’s growing workforce demands, FKG Group’s Accommodation Facilities and Camps team, now operating as Anaman, developed Diamantina Village in 2012 on an 18.75-hectare site. The project involved the development, design, construction, and ongoing operation of a fully serviced accommodation village to support the region’s expanding resource and infrastructure sectors.

Following construction, the FKG Group managed all operations, staffing and catering services. Over its eight years of operation, Diamantina Village managed 650 rooms, which were delivered in three stages to align with key stakeholder requirements.

Designed to promote comfort, wellbeing and staff retention, the village featured high-speed internet throughout, separate cardio and weights gyms, a cinema, gaming hub, training rooms, pool, volley ball and tennis courts, and landscaped outdoor areas with fire pits and barbecue facilities.

A fully licensed bar and on-site chef-prepared meals added to the experience, offering a more welcoming and homely environment compared to traditional workforce accommodation.

Value adds

  • Ensuited rooms with king single beds and double insulation for improved soundproofing
  • High-speed internet access in all rooms, also used for on-site training
  • Cinema with a rotating schedule of recent film releases
  • Landscaped outdoor courtyard with fire pit
  • Expansive alfresco barbecue area
  • Fully licensed bar (controlled and monitored to comply with industry drug/alcohol practices)
  • On-site catering by qualified chefs, delivering varied and nutritious meals
  • During operation of the camp, offices were constructed within the village grounds for Santos, to support their work in the Surat Basin region
