Senior Safety Advisor

 What are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced Senior Safety Advisor to lead and enhance our workplace health and safety practices. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with safety regulations, fostering a strong safety culture, and supporting operational excellence across all departments. Based out of Brisbane, this position will see you travel to regional and remote locations predominantly within South East and Central Queensland to our various construction sites and mobile camps.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor WHS policies and procedures.
• Conduct risk assessments and safety audits.
• Support operational staff with all facets of the safety framework
• Provide training and guidance to staff on safety standards.
• Be a proactive member of site operations driving continuous improvement and efficiencies.
• Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company standards.

To be successful, you will possess/be able to demonstrate: 

• Minimum 4-7 years’ experience in workplace health and safety.
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and best practices.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Vocational or Tertiary qualifications in Safety (minimum Cert IV)
• Current Drivers Licence and Construction White Card
• Experience in leading safety management across operational and construction projects, including implementation of systems and processes, on-site training and education
• Experience and knowledge of workplace health and safety, quality and environmental management regulations and practices as relative to construction sites
• Excellent computer skills with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong grasp of construction methodologies specifically relating to ground works, structures and formwork, with the ability to understand and interpret drawings and design documentation advantageous
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a highly developed ability to build and develop positive working relationships.

 This role is well suited to a vibrant, enthusiastic and driven individual with a well-developed knowledge of general safety codes, practices, and legislation, with a grounded and level headed approach. You will be able to demonstrate exceptional administrative and organisational skills, and a long term focus on process improvement.
